Background: Gilead is the son of the well-known explorer Hadrian of Tallon. His father married into the wealthy family of Elias the Developer. Elias is the head of the Guild that surveys and develops land for the city. This is a very lucrative position and though Gilead has no direct control over the family's fortune, he is always well-supplied with whatever he needs.
When Gilead was younger, he would often accompany his father on expeditions. He learned many valuable skills during this period and even was entrusted with mapping one of the Shattered Isles. Unfortunately, his father disappeared five years ago on a long exploration of the lands beyond the Great Kraken Lakes. There has been no word since then and the worst os feared.
Gilead is a student at the Tallon Military Academy. It is a sort of ROTC program, combined with the liberal arts studies a gentleman is expected to learn. He is a good student and excels in athletics. Recently, he won the Archon's Medal at the Founders Day Games. He is proud of this accomplishment and wears the medal as part of his daily routine.
Gilead spends most of his time at the Academy, which is located in the Hall of Art, or having a good time with his friends. In between semester, he is usually working for his grandfather. His mother died in childbirth, and though his grandfather never really approved of the adventurous Hadrian, Gilead is all he has left of his daughter Ellina.
Finally, Elias has decided that his family should ally themselves with Mistress Novya, a powerful Master and one of the favorites for next Archon. This clashes with Gilead's admiration of General Hannon, the other prime candidate. Since the current Archon is old and in poor health, this could become important in the near future.
Personality: Gilead is a likeable young man who takes his responsibilities seriously. Unlike manny of his class, he sees his wealth as coming with a code of behavior which includes protecting those weaker than himself. It is probable that this attitude comes from his father, since Elias is known to be rather condescending to the lower classes. Gilead also has an adventurous streak. He seeks to one day emulate the accomplishments of his father.
Quote: Get behind me fair lady; I will protect you!
Powers/Tactics: Gilead is a skilled swordsman and he prefers the heavy-bladed falchion to lighter weapons. He is also skilled with bow and arrow and has one prizes in school competitions for archery. He is a fan of wrestling and knows a lot about the subject, though he has no real training. Gilead will often take the forefront in combat, even when seasoned soldiers are involved. He will often fight from horseback.
Appearance: Gilead is tall and good-looking with a muscular atheltic build. He has been mistaken for having had enhacements done, but his physique is natural and the result of heredity and long hours of training.
