Compocracy of Ceres

History: Ceres was settled during the Land Rush of the 2120’s. Since Ceres is primarily composed of rock, it lacked the metal resources that drove the mining and manufacturing concerns elsewhere in the Belt. It did however, have large deposits of silicates, used in the production of computer chips; and iridium, used in the construction of positronic brains. Therefore, its Charter was dedicated to the creation of information systems and data manipulation. They are the best computer manufacturers in the Solar System. Ceres was created with a definite plan and it shows in every aspect of their architecture. All corridors, rooms and halls are color and number coded in a complex, but easily understood system. It is impossible to get lost on Ceres. Each of the habitation names indicates the primary industry performed there. Ceres has never contributed military weapons or soldiers to any interplanetary conflict. Ceres does not manufacture robots, but they do manufacture positronic brains (mostly for O'Neal Station and Pallas Shipyards), and the asteroid is heavily automated.
People: The Cereans are reknowned for their lack of a sense of humor. Every Cerean is brought up to consider logic and order the primary goals of a rational thinking creature. Like most Belters, Cereans have permenently removed all body hair. Each Cerean citizen is tattooed with a barcode, which is used as a personal ID. This barcode is located on the forehead. All Cereans will have some sort of computer on them at all times. When travelling, they will wish to uplink to CentComp at least once a day.
The government of the Asteroid is actually run by computer. There is a Board of Programmers, who minister to it, but the computer (“CENTCOMP”, whose central shaft is pictured above) rules dispationately and in the best interests of Ceres at all times. Ceres produces no art, music or fiction.
