Earth

History: The history of Earth is given in the general history. No data has come from the planet’s surface in many decades. If any people survived the great plague, war and eco-disaster, it is not known. Certainly, the colonists would like to return someday, for the resources of the planet are vast. It is just not cost-effective at this time to surmount the tremendous difficulties in trying to repopulate.

People: The peopl of eath are looked upon with mixed feelings by the Colonists. On one hand, the greatest thinkers, leaders, scientists and writers are legendary figures from earth history. One the other hand, they destroyed themselves out of greed and foolishness. The descendents of pure earth blood do not have high social status in the colonies. Still, the idea of the Mother Planet is strong in the colonial mindset, and many stories on the Tri-vid are set on historical earth, with handsome powerful earthers doing heroic things. Earth culture still pervades the colonies. For instances, most ships that are named after historical figures are named after earthers. Earth music is still popular. The colonists have never produced literature to compare with that of the home planet. In the end, each colonist has his own opinions about earth.
People: The only known earthers are old refugees from the destruction. The youngest are in their nineties and have only a child’s memories of earth.
