From Beka's thread
I go find Rath and see if I can lead him out of this fine establishment. He needs to get away for a while and I think we can go get the caravan going tonight and head it on the way to Adala instead. I ask Rath if he will help me, go to the caravan headquarters (knowing that Vance will be out on the town getting ready to leave in the afternoon tomorrow [because getting up too early makes him look puffy]) and roust everyone out tonight as if my father set me on this job. I will use the money he gave me to "buy something pretty" to bribe the caravaneers to go tonight instead and let them know that their pay will be higher because we will get a much better deal in Adala. "OK Rath, ready to go?"

"...Really I can go with you? That would be great Beka, I'll just tell Beef that I'm not interested, and that way I could keep an eye one you" *grin* "to keep you out of trouble"

Rath returns to the table were he left Beef.

"Beef, thanks a lot for everything you have done for me, but I've got something else I have to do. Maybe later on I'll be back I'll just get my things and go"

Rath goes to him room to collect his belongings, and put on his burlap shirt doing his best to hide his deformity and goes to meet Beka.

Beka and Rath leave quickly so Beef doesn't have a chance to discuss any more questionable business opportunities.

"You look after me? AARGH This has been quite a night" snips Beka to Rath
"Listen, my father wants to send this silk caravan to Karkul with Vance tomorrow. He's such a wimp that he won't go to Adala where the silks will get MUCH more money. "

(A short aside:
You know that Vance is her fathers friends son and she is always in mini competitions with him.)

"Anyway, I figure we will get the caravan going tonight or VERY early in the morning and go to Adala and make much more money and then my father will finally see that I should be taking all these runs and kick Vance out on his flabby butt."

"Sound good? Will you help? We might need to find some new people (rather quickly) who will be willing to leave right away. Are you in (and no more "protection" I've had a rough enough night already)?"

I mean I'm not worried about myself, 'cause I'm strong...Well if you say it will be all right I'm in, but I am going to look after you, it's kinda like my new job. You have the brains and I'm the beauty" It's odd to seeing this hulking monster of a man giggle.

Beka and Rath are leaving the Five Black Swords Casino, when a voice calls out. "Hey Rath! Where in the name of the Demon Kings do you think your going? You got a debt to Mister Harker. He done took ya in and he don't like people what's ungrateful."
Although Beef attempts to interpose himself between you and the door, both of you are far quicker than you look. Bolting through the door you are out of the heavy air of the gambling den quick as foxes. Pounding down the cobbled path, the two of you zip away. Behind you, the jeering voice of Beef fades into the general buzz of the Tallon night.
"Ungrateful freak! They'll kill ya out there! I saw who you was with. Riven-lover! Monster's got a girlfriend!"

Well, we'll go to the caravan staging area. I'll just let them think my father sent me to fix it up and then I'll tell themj we're going to Adala. If anyone complains I'll let them know that it's worth more money to them and they don't have to go... I'll let them imagine the concequences. That'll be worse than anything I could think of. Then we should be on the road by morning. If we need to pick up people, I'm sure there will be some hanging around the staging area or the stables looking for work, we'll pick the best of them. We just better stay clear of Harker's guys and Beef. By the time we get back, they'll have forgotten! Have I forgotten anything?

No sounds of pursuit follow you. The streets are nearly deserted as you make your way over to the Promethean Hill. It is as you are crossing over to the lumina-lit streets that you both suddely realize that Rath does not have the blousy shirt he uses to disguise his reaving! You are sure to attract unwanted attention, perhaps even harassment or an attack unless you find a disguise.
You are standing in the middle of the southern bridge that leads from Shannon's Isle to the Promethean Hill. The black walls of the Iron Tower are clearly visible to the immediate south. The bridge has a four foot stone railing. You can see a few people with very late business walking about on the far shore. The island behind you is thick and wooded.

I don't have any armor or weapons all I have is whatever money I had from my fighting and my shirt. I figure Rath used to live in the wilds on his own, so he doesn't have much in the way of possesions and he fights with his bare hands (or throws whatever is available). Since I just got done fighting I would have my helmet with me. I wear my helmet anytime I don't have my shirt on so people just associat my four arms with the pits, and my face with a big man with a belly.

Speaking of money: How important is it to keep track of? I mean are you going to say that we have X amount of money and what we want to buy costs Y or is it just going to be you saying the we logically wouldn't have that much money or whatever? If it is importatnt to keep track of then I'll need to know how much I have from fighting : )

I tend to be rather vague about monetary matters, unless it is integral to the plot, (i.e. you owe somebody or you need to scrape together passage, etc.) You have what you would logically have. Characters who have bought the Wealth perk logically have better stuff. Much easier than messing with accounting.

Rath, you find a large tree with a broad trunk which will conceal you. Just as you hunker down and get ready to wait for Beka, you hear footsteps approaching from the north. Risking a peak, you see three priests and a priestess coming down the path. They will pass very close to you which makes you extremely nervous. Priests are adepts and you have heard they have strange powers and can see through solid objects. You remember being warned about them by your Uncle Nanok back in the Hill Tribes. He said that they can make the dead walk and bewitch a man's mind. He told you a lot of grisly stories, actually. Most of them ended with people getting hacked to bits and him making off with the girl.
Harker doesn't like them and they were rarely welcome in the Five Black Swords Casino. It looks as though they will pass very close to your hiding spot.

You said it was thickly wooded right? Is it unusual for people to be walking in through the trees, or am I just close enough to the path to make them out? What I'm getting at, is are they off the path and appear to be looking for something/one or are they just strolling along the path and I happen to be in the way? In any case I try to stealthily move away from them to allow them to pass. Do I know enough about them to know if they can tell the difference between Riven and normal people?

Besides the Prison, th only other big public structure on the island is the best Temple in the city, the Temple of the Disciples. It is not unusual at all for priests to be found here. They do seem to be just strolling and not hunting for anything. They are discussing (actually politely arguing) a theosophical question. The jargon is way out of your experience, but has something to do wth the Divinity of Prometheus. The woman is taking one side, and the others seem to be arguing the other. They are so engrossed in their conversation that they totally fail to observe you.
Of course, it helps that with two stealth rolls like that, you could probably hide from Batman. Good job!
You were originally close to the path so that you could see Beka when she returns. Now you are a bit further away. The priests pass by without a backward glance. The lumina crystals they were wearing take the illumination with them, so once again you are in deep shadow. The path is barely visible through the trees and undergrowth.

Ice runs down Rath's spine as the vocie from the darkness promises pain. What a night I'm having Rath thinks to himself. He holds two of his arms out to the side while tucking the other two in front of him, hoping his body and the darkness will hide his deformity (I'm hoping I can use a surprise maneuver if it comes to that). He looks over his shoulder hoping to catch a glimpse of the villain and says "I don't have any money, so just save us both a heap of trouble and move along." Rath isn't too worried, as he figures there is only 1 man (I am assuming it was a male's voce) and he's young enough to believe that he can beat anyone one on one.

"I told you not to move!" Hisses the man (and it is a man, though a frighteningly ugly one). He is holding a wickedly long knife, almost a short sword) He stabs at you.
Having sneaked up on you he would normally have the initiative. However, having held your reaving in reserve, you whirl around, four arms moving in concert.
"K-kings an' Reavers! What the hell are you?"
He is still stabbing, but now you may roll for first attack.

The knife (which looks like a large kitchen knife more than a real weapon) slices through the darkness. It leaves a thin stream of blood behind along with a 5 inch cut that feels like fire along your stomach. He's a little more confident now that he knows you can bleed.

The cut is not deep. I use optional healing rules that any wound of 1 is considered minor and will be considered healed for BOD purposes after ten minutes. A successful paramedics roll can turn any one into a two. So the wound is not serious, and if you can get it treated quickly enough should not even inconvenience you. That is, assuming you win the fight...

I do a presence attack. My Presense is 13 + whatever dice you add/subtract. I then will use my Analyze skill. Then I will try to do another disarm with levels on offense again

If I make the Analyze roll exactly, I will know if he's better or I'm better or we're the same, if I make it by 3, I get +1 to my DCV, if I make it by half (yeah right) I get +2 Overall levels against him (I'm doing this from memory, I don't have Fred with me at work, but I'm pretty sure it's right)

when you edit a post, it re-generates new dice rolls before the original ones. I will take the earlier roll. This is lucky, since now it is a hit. You also doubled the body of his STR roll.

The man is startled. He hadn't really expected to run into a hardened fighter, just some luckless soul who had to cross the island at night. Your attack is so effective that not only did you take the knife from him, the big knife is now in your hands. The two of you stand concealed in the thick foliage, knee-deep in the underbrush, the twinkling of city lights upon the Promethean Hill twinkling through the leaves. The world seems frozen for an instant, a silent tableau.

The brigand looks hesitant, as if awaiting to see what you will do before he decides to attack or flee.

If you make another PRE attack you will get the following modifiers
In Combat, -1
Target has an unknown psych lim, +1
You are Riven +1
Violent action +1
Appropriate Setting +1
for a total of 3.5+3=6.5
Roll 7dice (I will half the last die) I may also modify the results based upon your presence attack.

If you decide to attack or flee instead, just describe your actions and give me some rolls.

The brigand looks truly frightened. He glances nervously at your four arms and swallows. A gleam of sweat is barely visible on his rough and ugly face. Suddenly, he bolts and runs like a rabbit, tearing through the underbrush with a loud crashing. After he has gone a safe distance and is no longer visible, you hear him shout, "Freak! Four-armed freak! I'll find the guard! I hope they hangs you!" It is the parting shot of a bully and a coward.
You know the odds of him going to the city guard are about as likely as a rat becoming Archon. Silence settles over the island again.

Looking about in the brush in the dark, you find nothing suitable for bandaging a wound. You have only the scraps of clothing you were wearing in the pit fight, and you are loathe to tear them up unless at dire need. Nevertheless, you do manage to stop the bleeding.
Sorry, I felt the negative modifiers (Dark, Dirty, No bandages) gave enough negative modifiers to negate teh Paramedics roll. However, if you get good materials within 2-3 hours, I'll allow another attempt.

While Rath hides in the trees, you go out to find a shirt. It takes some valuable time, however. The first places you investigate prove fruitless. Just when things are looking hopeless, you see a line of laundry being hung to dry across an alleyway. The line is two stories up ad the walls are smooth. However, you can see a couple of large shirts, plus a silk sheet and an oilcloak. Unfortunately, the lowest item hangs a good ten feet off the ground.

Plan one. No go. No pole to be seen.
Plan two. The walls here are smooth, as I stated above. climbing them would be difficult or foolhardy, however, you did make you roll by 7.

You take a running start and manage two steps up the wall before pushing ourself away. However, on your third try this is enough to give you the height you need to stretch up and grab the nearest item, a shirt you believe will fit Rath.
It's kind of ironic to think that someone of your station would be involved with petty larceny. Still, the feeling is kind of invigorating!
Now to find Rath...

Beka, you have run back to the island. At first you are dismayed because Rath is missing. Then it occurs to you that he must be hiding. Casting about, peering intently through all the underbrush, you finally spot him. He is crouched behind a tree and appears to be holding his stomach. He is barely visible and does not seem to see you.

I sneak up to the opposite side of the tree. From behind it, I toss the shirt around to the right and whisper "BOO" from the left (Being sure I am still behind the tree and thus 'unsluggable'). Then I show myself (once I know I'm not going to be decked) and say, "Let's go!" with an ever so proud of herself smile.

"You're back! You wouldn't believe the night I've had so far. I had to hide from some priests, you know, the ones that can turn your brain to mush and make dead people talk, then I was attacked by some guy who wanted to mug me or something, I scared him off, but he cut me, it's not bad I could probably fix it myself if I had the right kind of bandages and stuff, and I kept his knife he won't be using this on anyone else"

Beka could see the relief on Rath's face, as he put on his shirt and talked a mile a minute not letting her get a word in edgewise.

"How do I look?"

Of course I'm back. You look fine but when we get to the caravan we should have someone look at that cut. Are you sure you're ok? I can't loose my bodyguard you know. Are you ready to go?

Was too much played out on a roll you didn't make? I'm new at this and don't want to step all over anybody. Let me know if you want a second Perception roll as she sneaks up on you, or we can just let it play out as is.

It's no big deal, I'm not real picky about things like that. I was only giving you a hard time. It makes things go quicker when you make the rolls that I don't know I need to. Otherwise you would have had to post: make a PER roll, I'd have to post the roll, you'd have to tell me what I didn't see... Your way was a lot better for little things like this.

I have to say that I thought it would bother me, and in a F2F game it does when the GM makes my rolls, but with this, I'm more into the story than I am the mechanics of the game. Anything that keep the story flowing is all right by me. I think you're doing an awesome job so far. No worries : )

Beka, you realize that the Caravan will have to load goods from your father's small warehouse in the Market Circle. If they have already left the Merchant Hall, this is where they are likely to be. Making your way through the lumina-lit streets you find the following situation:
Please go to Market Circle.
Cripes! The boss is coming!
