With the writ in hand, you are able to pass the front gates. They are not pretty, but they are sturdy. Doom, who is manning the gate, give your orders a careful perusal.
"You sure I can't talk you outta this? It's certain death out there. Your friend is probably already riven."
Inwardly you might suppress a smirk until he adds, "Like we soon will be..."
Anyway, since neither of you have tracking skills, it will be a difficult task indeed. The best you can do is to follow the road to Adala, which is plainly visible so close to the fort. You probably decide to stay off of it and keep it in sight more than walk openly down it, but this quickly proves unworkable for long periods; the jungle is too thick. Nevertheless, after much searching and hiding:
I am going to let you roll default PER rolls at 8- in alphabetical order:
Beka: 5, 5, 3 STUN: 13 BODY: 3
Celeste: 1, 2, 2 STUN: 5 BODY: 2

Amazingly enough, Celeste's keen ears pick out the sound of distant argument. Voices are raised in heated exchange. As you creep closer, hardly breathing, you hear Rath's voice slowly become clearer:
"...come on the caravan, your stupidity is showing, how many Riven you know fall in with rich merchants? The more we talk the more convinced I am that you should be relieved of command."
This is followed by a thin, dry voice, like brittle paper being rustled:
""To begin with, it is a 'fort', not a town, Mako is a 'Commander' not a guardsman and Horn is still a broken idiot. I have confirmation from Ash when I communicated with him while you were helping us. Finally, Master Ash gave express orders NOT to kill Mako.
"Oh my little friend in a big savage world, if you do come from Master Ash, you would know how he communicates with us. He would surely tell a trusted lieutenant...?"

Celeste listens to see if more voices become apparent. She looks at Beka with a quizzical look. .oO(Faliol was right, Ash is working with them. But why? And why is Rath trying to bluff this other person into believing Ash sent him? )
Celeste signals to Beka "quiet, wait, listen" (signals pre-arranged on the way out, just in case : ) )

OOC: Boy!, I sure wish we had that 'telepathy' thing

You still can't see, although you believe them to be just beyond that circle of rocks (a full move, plus a Dex roll to clear the ring)

You hear a low cry from Rath, perhaps one of effort. This is immediately followed by the dry voice saying, "Cargo, kill him!" This is followed by a ferocious war-bellow and lots of shouting.

Plan of Attack

OOC: First, some questions.. Can we have a map to show how big this circle of rocks is?
and, since we didn't roll play the trip out here, can Beka and I have discussed a few ways of co-ordinating our moves?
Did any of the riven attacking the fort survive to run off, if so, have we possibly seen something that might be Cargo? (big and multiple armed?) These guys are a long way from the point the riven were exiting the jungle to attack the fort, so I am hoping that it may just be the two of them on a pre-arranged meeting site, the cockroach general, (I sure hope he is small : ( and the larger bodyguard 'Cargo', okay, we already know he's big).
Is it possible to ascertain from our side of the circle of rocks if we can do a two pronged attack, one from each side. Barring that, I think I'd like to gain the top of the circle of rocks and do a few quick arrow shots and possibly even the odds up a little before we go charging down into certain death or rivenhood.
Here's a particularly nasty thought "Why did Elrond name the city of the Elves 'RIVENdell?

Celeste makes a few signals indicating "swords?, bows?" and then
"two prong? or the decoy?" The decoy would distract or lead away the riven from the clearing and the better archer could take shots from a protected area. Risky but we have little choice. Celeste will wait for Beka's responses and ideas, but we have to move quickly.

Or, hearing that Rath is apparently attempting to convince them he is on their side, we will make the attack at all the riven (including Rath) and go in shouting "There he is, he never told us he was Riven, kill the traitor, etc. etc....." hoping to thoroughly confuse them all , convice them that Rath truly is there by Ash's request and thereby gain the advantage...or we could integrate some of these ideas and...OOC: Oh, nevermind, I pull out the K90 Rocket Kannon, (left over from the demon kings, but in perfect working order : ) ) and fire a round or two into the middle of the group of 'evil riven'

Upon hearing Celeste shout at and yell at Rath, Beka tries to move closer to him (in combat) hoping to defend him against the Riven and the crazy barbarian.

OOC: Cracker Barbarian is NOT a racial slur. See James Herriot, Favorite Dog Stories, i.e. Tricky Woo.

Beka looks at Celeste waving her arms around and holding up fingers in sequences.
.oO(I'm quite sure she's gone cracker barbarian.)

Without trying to decipher their meaning, Beka draws her sword and runs over to the rocks.
I will pause behind them so I can get up on them with a half move left to defend (or if not necessary) attack with.

Beka moves to behind the rocks and waits for her next full move.

Then she gets on top of the rocks (sword drawn, see previous post) and saves her half to defend.

If she does not need to defend, she will attack if someone (besides Rath, duh) is in range.

If no one is in range, she will use her last half right before her next phase to close the distance and join the frey.

TWARMS!

No, my introduction to D & D was at Charlie the Barbarians house, I didn't play. I watched all the men with their stupid 'virgin' warrior magic user druid chick characters. They didn't even do voices.

It was a board game. I think it was called tower. I'm sorry you had to learn about "roleplaying" from Charlie et al. (Devin was good though!)

I got to learn about D&D from da da da dummmm. Earl (the pearl). In high school I got to play all the monsters and try to kill the party. I was too good at it. They died. End of game.
