UPDATE:
This thread is getting very large, but I don't want to start a new one until as many players as possible have posted actions. Please post no more than your next actions if you have not already done so, and I will incorporate them into the inital posts of the next thread.
If I do not hear back by tomorrow, I will proceed with a best guess.

Map of Fort and close-up of Manor

MAP LINK FIXED!

This thread continues the goings on at the Manor.
The wall surrounding the manor is 6-7 feet with broken glass set in the top. The north side of the grounds slope very steeply down to the water. There is only one ground floor opening: the front door. Gate and door are animated.
The manor is built of stone with a tile roof. Some windows on the second floor have heavy wooden shutters. there is a widow's walk at the top. It is the highest point in the fort.
Visibility-limited replies follow.

You quickly discover that the door has no knobs or visible hinges. It must be animated. Able tries the gate password and the door moves a fraction of an inch before stopping against a hidden bolt. The servant must have thrown it.

Rath's axe, swung by his sinewy arms, bites into the wood. Any lesser man's axe would bounce from the treated would, but his blade sends chips flying. It may take some time, but he seems to be making slow progress.

Celeste runs quickly around the building. There are no other openings on the ground floor. There are several second story windows, but only one is unshuttered, the one that faces the harbor. There is some kind of carpet roll or bundle partially blocking it from the inside. The wall can be climbed but not easily.

Those of you in front listen for another scream, but it is not repeated. Beka does not allow herself to be led away.

Suddenly, a bolt whistles out of the darkness from above. It strikes Beka, but she is unharmed. Instead, the arrow passes through her pouch, the one that contains Peaches. You here a muffled curse and exclamation.

At the same moment, a second bolt pierces Handle's cloak. He is missed, but thebolt has pinned his cloak to the ground!

You are now aware that there are archers in the second story windows. Though the shutters are closed, they are open just wide enough for the end of a crossbow to stick through. There are at least two archers, possibly more. It is dark inside and they cannot be clearly seen.

"Tough shot. Those crossbowmen know their stuff. But I will try to keep them occupied while you guys go inside... CROSSBOWS ARE FOR WEAKLINGS!"

Assuming the God of Dice hates me not and I successfully fast draw my bow, I half move back from the upper window snipers to a total distance of 7-8 inches from said snipers, take aim and fire at the one on the left.

OOC: For those wondering, I have 2 PSLs for range with Betsy. Might as well give the snipers the -2 for range to hit me... Keith, I think that my two DCV levels will come in handy at this point. : )

In response to, "CROSSBOWS ARE FOR WEAKLINGS!" Vagrant just makes a 'hrmph' sound and extracts his from beneath his rags.

Using his scratchy and sick sounding voice he shouts up to one of the archers, "Death is knocking at your door, archer. If I were you I'd run. You don't want us to come looking for you."

Ricco slings his trident over his back and runs for the Manor at the sound of Cas' scream yelling, "He be sendin' the Reaver's for the Fort! That be Tekko's horn, Red!"

When the bolts come raining down he rushes right up agianst the wall, directly under the window on the right. He knows the archers would have to expose a lot of their body's to shoot directly down at him, and then, Faliol would be able to drop them.

He begins to climb up the wall in the corner.

Having just come to the Master's house form the harbor area with many of the others, I am surprised to find Rath, Beka and the others here.

More the surprise when something slashes perilously near to me from above, I move out of bolt shot and make a run close to (the wall/the house (whichever it is) for protection and to keep out of arrow angles.

OOC: I am a bit confused, is Rath hacking at the house door or the wall gate? My actions will depend on if we need to breech the wall or are attempting to get into the house.

Cas, you can hear the sound of a reaver wailing from outside the window. Ash has a look of satisfaction, like things are all going according to plan.

Ash barely notices your threat. He seems to have dismissed you. Instead he appears to be casting about with unknown senses.
Outside the room, in the corridor, you can hear the twanging of bowstrings followed by several screams. Ash turns to the window.
"Hmm, more resourceful than I thought. Barbarians at the gate... and the adept pretender thinks he can thwart me, eh? Take the bait, little fish." With a wave of his hand, the lights in the room extinguish.

Outside, the screaming of a reaver reaches fever pitch, as if it is right beyond the window! The room is filled with eerie jumping blue patterns of shadow and light. Horns are sounding around the fort and there are screams of panic and terror.

Cas is going to try and use what limited maneuverability she has and try to slash through these drapes with her claws. She will further begin singing as vocally as she can, what seems to be a non-sense song. The song is infact, a well known fox song that was the song sung by the legendary fox, ShadowWhisper, who managed to get himself trapped in a record 330 gopher holes. This was the song he sung to himself while he tried to get free. Cas hopes that if this is heard by Faliol, he will recognize the message. If not, it might at least draw the attention away from her desperate clawing.

Cas struggles, trying to wiggle at least one claw free. Her arms are hopelessly pinned, but her right leg, bent double, has just enough mobility in the foot that she can move her claws an inch or so. Resolutely she begins the long task of cutting her way free.

Ash is looking out of the window, but not standing near it. Outside, the fever-pitched whine of the reaver fills the world. Ash seems to be waiting for something. Cas suddenly realizes that someone must be trying the same entrance as she. She doesn't want to tip her hand, though. She waits until Ash is about to act. As the Master leans forward to speak a command to the window, she suddenly increases the volume of her song, singing out a warning. Ash commands the window and the shutters slap shut like a mousetrap! Cas cannot tell if anyone was hit by them, but Ash turns to her after bolting the shutter.

"Animal!" he hisses. "I have brooked enough interference from you. Drawing the sword from his scabbard, he dispassionately stabs the helpless vixen. Cas stifles a yelp of agony. She won't give him the satisfaction. The pain is excruciating, though. It's a wound to her torso, and to her horror, her life's blood begins to dribble out onto the floor.

Ash looks at his handiwork. "What a waste," he mutters. "I liked those curtains."

He turns and leaves the room, leaving Cas behind to slowly bleed to death.

Remember, those cursed by the dice gods. You make skill rolls, but I run the whole combat on my local computer, which logs all the action. I'll make the combat rolls. Sorry, but it's the only way I can track this stuff.

Riccoco, by hugging close to the building , you are covered unless an archer wants to expose himself. The outer wall provides better cover from the building itself. It looks like there are platforms for archers to stand on the inside of the curtain wall in case there are a bunch of people attacking. You are beginning to climb the wall, which is definitely no "scamper up the brickwork" affair. It is slow and careful work. You are at half DCV while climbing.

Beka, checking on Peaches, you find that she is unharmed. The arrow miraculously pierced the bag without piercing the Chinchilla. "Damn cowards! Shootin' at me while I wasn't lookin', eh? Let's show them what for!" You turn to run around the building, skirting close to the edge.

Handle, you tug yourself free of the bolt and hug the edge of the building.

Nuyok runs around the building to the back window. Since I made Celeste's initial observation visible, we'll assume she communicated what she saw by shouting.

Vagrant and Faliol fire their weapons. The twang of bowstring and thump of crossbow sound simultaneously. Just a simultaneous are the cries of pain from the other side of the respective windows.

OOC: Awesome hits, guys! These guys had +4 DCV from cover. And you NAILED them!

As Nuyok rounds the back corner, Beka a ways behind him, he runs headlong into Celeste coming the opposite way. She has a look of alarm on her face as she shouts, "Reavers! Ash has let the Reavers in! Get up to the top!" Behind her, moving very quickly up the hill is a reaver, inside the wards!
Those of you around the front of the house can easily hear her powerful shout.

Celeste, there is indeed a drain pipe on the back wall, the side facing the reaver. It is much easier to climb than the wall itself, but there is a five foot ledge that one needs to cross to get to the window. The ledge is maybe two inches wide.

Rath, your task will take too long. Although you have made a good notch in the door, if reavers are on their way, you'll never get through in time.

Jareek and Kent, huddling close to the wall, look about in panic. Kent cries, "Get to the Sanctuary! [church] They're always warded!" Jareek returns, "No! We have to get inside and take care of the Master or we're goners!"

With sporadic peeks towards the window, Riccoco continues his valiant climb. At the various yells from the rest of the troupe he growls through gritted teeth, "Ash shows his hand! Hear the yells of Celeste? Send Kent and your sire out of here, Faliol! If the Reavers be comin' there be no sense in them to be Twisted."

Ricco's plan is to climb into the (hopefully) window when he gets to it. Then, maybe he'll be able to let the other in "or something."

OOC: I figured Nuyok "knew" the window from earlier at least : )

Nuyok stops short at the sight of the Reaver, gauging its movement rate (assuming it's coming this way?) versus his ability to climb inside the window, but will also look to see the condition of the Manor's wards themselves at this point (i.e., no reason to go inside if inside isn't protected).

Nuyok's decision on Celeste's offer will depend on the Reaver's pace, if the boost up will give him enough time to check out what's going on inside before the Reaver gets too close, he'll accept it, otherwise he'll offer a boost to Celeste instead (reminding her that Ash is not bad, though *possibly* under an artifact's control) and confront the Reaver.

Tune in next week for another exciting episode!!

Will Faliol critically fail his attack roll and skewer Ricco by mistake?

How can Vagrant be out front shooting snipers AND going through the back window, AT THE SAME TIME?

Will Celeste be driven crazy by Nuyok's calm demeanor and ginszu the poor Adept?

Will Nuyok finally snap under the pressure and admit EVERYTHING?

Will Rath grab that uppity Faliol and use him to batter down the door?

Will Ricco gain entrance via upstairs windows only to be pacified by a basket of fresh fish (with complimentary Berry Ale)?

Will Beka stop oggling Rath as he hacks the door to splinters?

These and many more questions will be answered on the next episode of...

As The Savage World Turns!!

That means it may be resolving this line of action in another week or two.....Hmmmm....tomorrow is Friday, that means we'll be left with a cliffhanger at least until next week, when the writers will introduce a new character and make him someone's long lost relative or illegitimate child....and we will actually seguey away from this scenerio without ever resolving it--in Soap Opera terms, that is.

Riccoco has nearly reached the second floor. The building is not designed to be climbable, of course, and this makes the going slow and difficult. Fortunately, the window he has chosen to approach has the shutter open a crack for the archer.

Beka sees the approaching reaver and runs back to the front of the house, shouting a warning that it is coming and coming fast.

Nuyok, you and Celeste debated who would go first, and although your last posts indicated Celeste would stay at the bottom, you come to the conclusion that the reaver is approaching too fast. It would catch Celeste while you were pinned to the wall, unable to help. Also, I began running this series of events while everyone was still posting, so going with your Plan A:

Nuyok turns to face the approaching reaver. Its screaming has reached a high pitch that make communication difficult.

Vagrant is reloading his crossbow when he hears the request to come around the back. Making a Dex roll by a goodly amount He manages to do the reloading on the run.

Faliol's second arrow finds it's traget again. This time you hear not only a scream, but the thud of a body from inside. This is the window that Riccoco is aiming for.

Celeste mounts the drainpipe. In a flash, she is at the level of the ledge and will begin edging across.

At this moment, the light in the window Celeste is heading for goes out.

Handle edges around the building and then decides that the manor is probably safer than being outside with reavers, and so begins to climb after Riccoco

Rath continues to chop at the door. His swings are truly heroic in scale, and those about him marvel at his strength. Though the door itself is very strong, he may have a chinchilla-sized hole before too long.

Jareek and Kent look outside the gate and see some of the civilians running for the church. Some of them are having problems carrying provisions or supplies. Also, Lt. Stout appears, carrying a wounded soldier. He calls to them, "I need help moving the wounded into the sanctuary!" Jareek and Kent look relieved at being able to tackle a task they can handle and move off to help.

Nuyok faces the reaver. Six feet across it is, with crackling blue tendrils licking the ground and air. His face is determined, betraying little of the fear he must feel. He raises his arms in a warding gesture and concentrates...
The reaver hesitates. It does not retreat, but he seems to have it pinned. It is obviously taking much effort, something he cannot maintain long. "Climb Celeste!" he shouts, "I can't hold this much longer!"

Riccoco has reached the window. He is clinging to the building for dear life, standing on a ledge that cannot be more than two inches wide. The shutter is locked! It has some sort of internal hook that only allows it to be opened so far for archers. Desperately he looks about for Handle. "There be a lock here! Ken you be a jimmyin' it, Handle-lad?"

Vagrant reaches the back of the manor, only to see Celeste clinging desparately to the wall upon a narrow ledge and Master Nuyok holding off a ball of black energy which screams and crackles.

As it stands:
Beka is in front with Peaches, ready to send her through the hole in the door.

Cas is inside somewhere

Celeste is on the ledge on the back wall, making her way toward the now-dark window.

Faliol is providing cover fire.

Handle is climbing the front wall behind Riccoco.

Nuyok is holding off a reaver.

Rath is battering at the door with his axe.

Riccoco is clinging to the window sill waiting for Handle.

Vagrant has rounded the building and seen his first reaver.

Jareek and Kent are helping move wounded to the sanctuary

Couple of answers. The ledges people are standing on are about ten feet up. The bottom of any window is about four feet above that.

Only Vagrant, Beka, Nuyok and Celeste have actually seen the reaver, though all can hear it. I will continue to keep all people in the same post since some may move back and forth, but those in front can no longer hear those in back and vice versa.

The back window shutters are still open. All windows are glazed, but most have the glass raised. The front window shutters are open only a few inches and seem to have a hook inside that keep them from being opened all the way from the outside. There are three windows in front, two in the back. Only two snipers have been detected.

Vagrant stops a moment in awe as he sees one of these
impossible monsters for the first time.

Whispering to himself, "This world, tasks me at every
turn. As a soldier in my day, I dealt with the evil

too. Whatever...to keep my wretched hide alive I must
try something even if it is fruitless."

Vagrant aims his freshly loaded crossbow at the
bizarre monster and fires away.

As the intrepid adventurers continue their tasks, beginnings of a rain shower dots the ground with warm wet drops.

Handle reaches the window, climbing the wall with practiced ease. Riccoco helps to steady him as the youth pulls from his garments a small telescoping pole and a wire hook. He winks at the coon.

Behind the manor, Nuyok strains with effort. The reaver hovers about four feet in front of him. Occasionally, tendrils of energy lick at his body. He stands fast, but the work is taxing him.

Rath continues to chop at the door, his mighty arms delivering frightening blows. None of you suspected such awesome strength.

Faliol is drawing and notching his next arrow when he looks up to see the bolt of a crossbow pointed directly at him. He can see the sniper's eyes as the man realizes a sure shot. This one has his name on it. Twa-snap!! Against all odds, the crossbow string breaks and the bolt tumbles harmlessly to the ground. Fumble, you lucky fox. The dice gods must have accepted your offerings

Riccoco continues to hold the shutter open as far as possible, while supporting Handle.

Beka leans against the wall, catching her breath. She looks very tired.

Vagrant lets a bolt loose directly at the reaver. It must surely be a hit, but the bolt disappears in the iridescent mayhem of the reaver's energy. Slowly, hesitantly, the reaver begins to inch toward Vagrant.

Faliol finishes nocking the arrow, raises his bow and fires. The crossbowman stares in dumbfounded wonder at his broken weapon. It is the last image he ever sees as Faliol's arrow rips out his throat.

Behind the manor, clutching the wall Celeste, slides toward the window. She must balance on her toes and the strain on the muscles of her wounded abdomen is like a knife of fire. Oddly, she begins to fancy that she hears singing coming from somewhere.

Nuyok redoubles his effort, seeing the reaver move toward his ragged friend. "No. You. Don't." he hisses between clenched teeth. Though the rain has only begun to wet the ground, he is drenched with perspiration. Slowly the reaver begins to swing towards the adept.

Beka cries, "Rath, wait!" The big man's axe has cracked a board lengthwise. Placing the point of his axe in the crack, he levers a strip of wood free, three inches wide and nearly a foot long. Beka holds Peaches up to the hole and the little chinchilla begins to squeeze her way through. "Reave the Stones! I knew I shouldn't have had that huge breakfast!"

Above, Handle's efforts are rewarded with a click as the shutter swings free. As Riccoco dives inside, he can hear the youth mutter, "Stones, you'd think a scrat-farding Addie'd have better locks than that..."

Riccoco immediately slips through the open window and into the manor.

Vagrant begins to re-loads his crossbow.

Faliol can hear screaming and commotion from behind the manor, but does not dare split his attention. He covers the two at the upper window.

Celeste is almost at the shutter. She reaches her hand for it to get a firm grip, when the singing suddenly increases dramatically in volume, almost like a warning. She snatches her hand away just as the shutters bang shut like a mousetrap. Had she grabbed them, she would have been pitched into the reaver below. Her gut burns from the sudden motion.

Rath sees the chinchilla struggle. He glances apologetically at Beka and unceremoniously shoves the little beast through the hole. "Ham-fisted Barbarian! Leave a little fur for a warrior's dignity!

As soon as the shutters close, the reaver seems to undergo a change of attitude. It begins to accelerate toward Vagrant again, this time lunging in attack. Vagrant hears Nuyok shout, "Vagrant! Over the wall! It's still warded!" The ragged man has lent his largest leather scraps to Rath to get over the gate, and he knows the top of the wall is set with broken glass, but the horror bearing down on him leaves him no choice. He sprints toward the wall and scrambles over it, heedless of the cuts to hands and front. He lands in a heap on the far side, bleeding and hurt, but safe. The reaver stops short at the wall, howling!

Then the rain begins in earnest.

I have restored the lost transcript from memory. Apologies if any timing seems off, but you guys did so well, I didn't want to cheat you by re-running it.
Vagrant, I went with those actions as your best chance. You had no hope of outrunning the reaver. It is FAST.

Is the Reaver in view of other party members now? (Trying to figure out which way it went, west to the wall, south to the wall by the gate, other?)

Nuyok will move to position himself between the Reaver and the rest of the party, doing what he can to fend it off, but looking to have a chance to run for cover, e.g., dash over the wall, if his ability to fend it off wanes.

Riccoco hits the floor inside the window in a crouch. There is the body of a soldier below him, an arrow in his face. He freezes as an ice-cold voice says, "We do not take kindly to trespassers. You will have to die like the vixen."
A man stands at the other end of a hall, dressed all in grey. In one hand, he bears a long and costly-looking sword. The other hand... the other...

The coon stands transfixed as his mind refuses to accept that his other hand bears a miniature reaver.

The master appears calm and unruffled. You can tell he is an adept by the watery lumina cystal on his breast.
"First off, no more unwanted visitors. Seal."
All shutters in earshot bang shut instantly. Handle is nearly pitched from the wall, but instead works with the momentum of the shutter to hurl his body into the hall, where he lands on his feet, catlike.
Ash appears impressed, despite himself.
"Houma!" He calls out. "Please see to the front door."

Sorry I have to autopilot your characters, but stuff is happening downstairs and in back, and I can't have Ash frozen here. I'm going with your last stated actions.
Ash strides toward you, saving you both the trouble of intercepting him. Riccoco's throat seems to suddenly release, and he shouts out, "That thing in his hand! It's how he be a controllin' the reavers!" He is not sure if anyone other than Handle could hear him.
As Ash approaches the pair, Riccoco brings up his trident, hoping to tangle the chain and disarm the Master. Handle attempt to dive roll past the Master and give Ash two sides to worry about.
Ash neatly avoids the disarm, as well as Handle's knife. He reacts before the attack even begins, even ones he cannot see. His sword hand flicks toward Riccoco, and the 'coon barely avoids the blade of adept steel.

Again, the adept the street youth and the raccoon exchange attacks, neither scoring a hit upon the other. Ash hisses, "Get out of my way, animal. You are as much of an annoyance as the dead vixen."

The comment about killing the vixen causes Riccoco to cease fighting defensively and stab directly at the Master. To his disbelief, the trident hits Ash in the shoulder, causing the Mster to drop his sword which clatters to the floor beside him.

Ash shakes off the pain as the tines pull free. "I did not wish to waste the energy, but I can no longer delay. He gestures at the Raccoon. Though Handle cannot see any attack, the 'coon's eyes roll up in his head, his knees fold and his body sinks motionless to the floor.

The thief sees the imposing figure of Ash filling the hallway before him. Behind the youth is the staircase leading down, before him is a pretty valuable sword lying on the ground.

"It be many a day since last Riccoco's eyes looked into your's, Chuckichiis," the 'coon murmurs, the warm body of his love pressed agianst him.

"Oh, Ricco, I know. I know. You've been away too, long. Far too long."

The two Raccoon's lie upon a woven mat of jungle leaves, plush with the fur of Dampasnakes. The musk of their love is strong in the air.

After a few moments of snuggling Riccoco says, "Oh how I be missin' you." He nuzzle's her with his muzzle, but, pulls back suddenly, alarm in his eyes. A bit of his beloved's fur has fallen away and below is the glistening chiton of an insect.

"Chuckichiis... What?" Before his eyes the rest of her fur sluffs off and two mandibles have slipped from her muzzle.

"What be wrong, Ricco m'Love? You not be findin' my new look sexxy?"

"NNNNOOOOO!"

Ricco's screams of terror and anguish thankfully fall into the darkness once more as the plucky 'coon tries to fight against the magic of the accursed, Master Ash.

But this is also a ruse as I don't think I can get past him and so stop short and try to get at least a nick of my palmed dagger into his flesh.

As the party waits for Riccoco, Handle or Peaches to let them in, the reaver slowly begins moving along the wall (of the grounds, not the side of the house) towards the front of the building. Faliol and Vagrant are making their way toward the manor gate.
From inside the crack in the door, those closest can hear, "Demon Kings! This bar must weigh 500 pounds. Tough, but if I strain my muscles to their utmost..."
Following this are the sounds of the chinchilla panting and puffing with effort. Suddenly another voice intrudes, "Impudent k-k-creature!"
This is followed by a chinchilla scream which is instantly cut short.

The reaver rounds the building.

The second floor shutters snap shut with Ricco and Handle inside.

Behind the Manor, Celeste tries to grab the shutters and finds a finger hold above the window. Knowing she only has one chance, she swings out and back, driving her boots hard into the heavy wood. Thump! Her feet slam into the shutters and bounce, causing her to lose her tenuous grip. She falls to the ground, trying to land on her feet. She barely manages to hit the ground upright, but the pain from her midsection is agonizing. It takes her a moment to recover. The shutters are not made of normal wood.

At the front door, Rath slides his knife through the crack. Normally, the bar would be below the opening, but apparently the little chinchilla has raised it enough for the big man to get his knife into the bolt.
He begins to raise it, just as hands from inside push down. Swearing with effort, he levers the dagger, aided by those surrounding him. With a crack the bar pops out of its bracket and the door swings inwards. Rath and Beka stumble in just as the reaver comes howling down the narow space between the manor and the gate.
Faliol, standing just outside the gate has a horrible front row seat as Able is caught by the sphere. His screams echo from the interior as he disappears into the coruscating energy.
Vagrant comes limping around front near the horrified fox, just in time to see Able begin to...change...

None of you are sure if the reaver will pass through the open gate, but it will probably not enter the manor. You are also unaware how long the reaver will hold Able, since the time varies from person to person. The reaver is still slowly moving (west to east) and will clear the area between the front door and the gate in a few seconds.

Beka rushes into the antechamber to find the body of Peaches lying in a corner. Someone has hurled the Chinchilla against the stone wall. To her relief, Peaches appears to be breathing.

A shiny brown cockroach man springs from the back of the room and thrusts a sword at Rath, missing the giant pit fighter. "Die, spy!" he shouts.

Vagrant and Faliol run to the gate but must wait for the reaver to pass. It is the bravest thing either has ever done. The tendrils of energy flicker off of them, causing the fox's fur to stand on end. An inane concern for his now bottlebrush of a tail flickers through Faliol's mind.

Behind the Manor, Celeste picks herself wearily off the ground and begins to slowly climb the drainpipe again. A low chant begins in the back of her barbarian throat. "Kill. Ash. Kill. Ash."

The reaver slowly passes, leaving the door clear

Nuyok runs up in the reaver's wake, having thought better of cutting himself on the wall's top.

Rath is surprised by the room's other occupant, the living skeleton called Miss Bones. Her sword stabs into his vital areas. Fortunately, one of his lower arms catches the blade, turning a mortal wound into a mere annoyance.

Rath recognizes the voice of Houma as the one who grabbed Peaches. His axe swings in a whistling arc, but the little bug sidesteps it easily, as hard to hit as his namesake. "K-k-k-k!" hisses the riven in a bizare mocking laugh.

In the hallway beyond, however, Rath sees something Houma doesn't. Dragging himself painfully to his feet, Commander Mako is leaning on a doorframe. He looks exhausted and is unarmed. He also looks very, very angry...

Beka whirls on the cockroach. Fury has given her the strength she lacks. "Bastard!" she yells, striking for Peaches. Once again, the cockroach bends inhumanly. The blade never comes near him. His laugh is infuriating.

Vagrant and Faliol spring into the room and take a moment to decipher the melee. They do not wish to hit a friend.

Behind the Manor, Celeste climbs on, her chant getting louder. She may not even realize she is speaking.

Mako pulls himself up and takes a deep breath. In a tone of stern command he barks, "Houma! Soldier, stand down!"

Houma instantly freezes, against his will.

In that instant Beka's sword darts like lighting and stabs the cockroach. Though he is not wounded seriously, his look of surprise is almost worth the price of admission.

Nuyok realizes that this can only end with one side or another victorious. There will be no quarter asked or given. He turns and tells the door to close. It swings shut.

Vagrant levels his crossbow at the cockroach man. The string twangs as the bolt narrowly misses the riven leader.

Faliol has a better shot at... a living skeleton! Swearing a muffled oath, he draws and fires, hoping he is not making a mistake. The woman(?) turns as the arrow pierces her ribcage. She crumples to the ground and moves no more.

Rath takes advantage of the multiple distractions and brings his axe around in an underhand arc. The blade cuts into Houma, lifting him from the ground. The riven's chitinous armor appears to have spared him mortal injury, but he is clearly shaken. He is no longer confident and mocking.

Next actions, all?

The recent conversations between Rath and Vagrant will make for fine role-play at a future point. Realistically though, you are in the midst of combat and have little time for more than quick soliloquies. There is no way that anything like this amount of dialog can take place in between actions. Even if it could be said, it could not be heard and responded to.
I would allow it in a Champions campaign since that's a genre convention, but not in SE.

However, keep it in mind for the eventual fireside conversations.

Finally, please double check visibility before you post. I made an error in the beginning of this subthread and unwittingly included Cas, Riccoco and Handle. They are not present and should not be able to see any of these posts. I will correct the visibilities manually.

After his success or failure with his martial throw
Vagrant retorts the venomous words of his companions.

"There are so many things wrong with statements like
that my friends. In my day, if a perp surrendered we
took them alike. They would stand for their crimes
and be punished by their peers. However, we are,
sadly I must interject, no where near that world.

Go ahead kill him then. I hope for your sakes that he
doesn't surrender. Then it won't be so hard to

murderer this day...at least not in cold blood."

"Oh and heaven forbid, him living long enough to give

Regardless of whether their enemy surrenders or not,
Vagrant will leave him behind and start looking for an
exit to the room that would take him to Ash.

Sometime when the fighting is all over (assuming they both survive),
Rath will find Vagrant and remind him of what he said in Ash's Manor,
and then he will tell Vagrant:

"I don't know where you come from, but it sounds like a strange place.
You don't know about a lot of things that go on our world. There are
things worse than death. Look at me Vagrant, look at me. The thing that
made me into what I am is a Reaver. I was 9 years old when I was
attacked and made into the monster I am. You cannot imagine the pain it
felt like it lasted a week, it might have for all I know. You talk to me
about justice? Why don't we ask Able what he thinks we should to the
people who wanted to make everyone in this fort Riven. I don't think
there could be a worse crime anywhere no matter where you come from. No
one is lower than a person planning to make another person Riven, not
even a rapist. So if you want to call me a murderer for killing a leader
of a group that had plans to turn people into Riven, well...I can accept
that, because I don't call it murder I call it retribution. If you don't
believe me we could ask Able, but he's probably dead...or worse."

I am intent on killing Houma. He injured Peaches, he hurt Rath, he ordered my poisoned. He is a walking corpse. I will position myself so that Rath and I can both get to him but he will not be able to get to both of us.
+2 HTH Combat to hit
+2 DCV
When he is "squished" (read like the witch in Into the Woods), I will check on Peaches and then go find Ash.

Celeste will climb the pipe to the top of the manor house. Hopefully there is access/skylight/access door something to come into the building from the top. If no access is available she will move to the side where the reaver is and see if it is leaving and perhaps she will attempt to enter by another open area. She means to kill Ash or at least severely disable him.
Cripes! The boss is coming!
