The Throne Mansion
The map has been updated. Positions of all characters are marked. They are small enough that if you want to remain ignorant of the whereabouts of the others in the party, you should be able to zoom in on the relevant bit. I will update as necessary.
People may notice markers for NPCs who are not present, or whom you have not met. This is just for completeness, and to add an element of mystery...

After nightfall, the plan is put into action.

Faliol and Riccoco take their time and position themselves in the trees across the street. They pick trees 4 and 5 of the seven along the north will. This will give them good LOS down the eastern inner perimeter path should they need to cover their friends. They have managed to find enough rubbish to heap against the wall at the south end of the compound that they can easily vault it at the SE corner (not shown). Throne's guards, (if they pursue) will have to go around. Also, there is a narrow alley with some precariously stacked boxes between here and the ruined bakery where Jareek and Kent await. The boxes will make an excellent stumbling block for pursuers...

The Assault team has hidden their weapons as well as possible to avoid early detection. (The north wall is in easy sight of the city walls and an armed team would surely draw attention. A piece of broken clay pipe rescued from a garbage heap and one of the discarded oilcloths from the silk bundles will be enough to protect the team from injury as the go over the spiked top. In sweaty silence, they wait for the twang of arrows that announces their distraction...

Faliol and Riccoco are near enough to communicate without shouting. The trees provide excellent concealment, but little real cover. Their trunks are too narrow at this height. Nevertheless, they should make it difficult for return fire to be a major danger.

The fox and the coon each pick targets. By unspoken arrangement, they wait until one of the guards along the outer perimeter passes near the street lamp.

Slap!Slap! go their bowstrings. The arrows whistle through the dark.

One of them finds its mark. The guard nearest the lamp crumples with hardly a sound. Before the guards are aware of what is going on, both of the beasts have drawn and released again. this time they have no luxury of slowly tracking their targets, but one of the guards in the middle distance suddenly clutches his thigh. Faliol's arrow likely, since Ricco was aiming elsewhere.

The wounded man cries out, "Aggh! Archers! From the front!"
Another shouts, "Bachel is down! Take cover!

The guards immediately begin to take the nearest cover. It is difficult to track so many at once in dim light, but you are both pretty sure that most of them have gone to take cover by the wall. This will give them excellent protection, but pin them down, hopefully.

Arrows are being exchanged by both sides now, but the beasts have the concealment of the trees and the mercenaries have the cover of the wall. Both sides are prepared. Though there are some close shots, including one that nearly pins Faliol's bandana to the tree, no one else is hit.
The assault team has made it to the difficult part, the area between the rushes and the roses. They are crossing one by one, when Celeste looks up in surprise at the Carriage house. Is there someone behind it?
Apparently so, for suddenly Handle shoots out of nowhere, springing from some scrap of shadow with his dagger raised. There is no sound that carries this far, but apparently some fight is being waged behind the building. Celeste looks like she is about to run toward him, but the others motion her back. They run to the building and are in.

Riccoco, you see something odd which makes your fur stand up. As Handle rushes behind the carriage house, the easternmost guard along the wall turns at the sound of the altercation. He looks directly at the party crossing to the east door and says nothing! He raises no alarm, nor calls attention to the party, but turns back to the wall and fires an arrow in your general direction again before ducking for cover.

Riccico calls over to Faliol, an arrow sluicing through his tree, leaves dropping to the ground below. "One o' the guards be seein' Handle there an' not be sayin' o' word about it!" Ricco draws back and lets another arrow fly over the wall.

"Either there be a trap for our folk or the Hill Tribe be wantin' Throne takin' down." Another volley of arrows rip through the foliage about the plucky 'coon. "Should Ol' Riccoco be havin' a look see or stick wit' the plan?"

Twang!
I keep my eyes on our opponents while talking (in a low voice) to the surprisingly accurate 'coon, "I suggest sticking with the plan. We are committed."
Twang!
"They are counting on us NOT to deviate."

As the arrow pins my scarf, I get angry...

Much louder, "Ha! You call that archery? Your marksmanship is similar to your honor, in VERY short supply!"

A voice where none should be makes its prescence known ""Fox! What in the name of the Lawgiver do you think you're doing?"

I cannot help but to react, my right hand (the one holding onto the tree) reaches for my sword. A branch hampers the success of this action, and just as well, for gravity has gotten a better hold upon me. I fall while uttering the catchphrase "By the Toad's Hairy Goat!"

Faliol tumbles through the branches, arms and legs flailing for support. He never hits the ground. Instead a pair of strong human arms deftly break his fall.
There is a man at the bottom of the trunk. He is not a barbarian, but is dressed like a city dweller. His arms and armor bespeak of wealth or prestige. A sword is strapped to his back and appears to be his only weapon.
He gently sets the startled fox upon the ground. He looks upward to include Riccoco in his address. His voice is firm and brisk, like he expects you to snap out answers.
"Three questions:
"Have Master Nuyok and the other Tallonites already entered the compound?
"Are there any besides barbarians defending the wall?
"And can you climb that wall unaided or do you need the gate open?"

Once back on the ground, I collect my dropped arrows while keeping an eye on the stranger. I will my fur to stand down from the automatic response that occurs whenever I feel like something's midnight snack.

Ba-dump! Ba-dump! Ba-dump!

The blood pounding in my ears has only been increased to a frantic pace by being scared half to death by this sneaky human.

I am NOT in a good mood for chit-chat.

"Nice catch. You kept my clothes from being dirtied. For that I thank you. Forgive me for being rude, but I don't know you, for we have never been properly introduced. I also would warn you that in about 10 seconds, angry barbarians are probably going to charge this spot. I would not be standing here when they arrive, if I were you."

Once my arrows are collected, I begin the climb back up. Not wanting to use real names around this stranger, I ask "Mr. Raccoon, are they charging us yet?"

Riccoco sees no change in the posture of the barbarians.
The man smiles grimly and says, "If they come, their lives are forfeit. Even Throne would not unleash a barbarian horde into the streets of Adala.
"But come, I have little time for lengthy explanations. I am Orlando of High Justice Rakeen. If you are Cas or Faliol, and the treed Raccoon is Bandit, then that will have to suffice for introductions.
"Now," he says, straightening. His voice becomes stern gain. "Please honor me by answering my questions. If we are going to go in there and... arrest them, I'd like to know the situation."

If they acted civilzed, why do people call them 'Barbarians' in the first place?"

Orlando looks slightly amused. "I don't think my hide will be so easily peppered. Still, follow when you judge it safe. There is to be a reckoning."
With this dramatic statement, he takes two steps, plants one foot against the tree trunk, shoves off to top of the wall and over. It is a slick move that looks well-practiced.*
Neither of you can see clearly over the wall, but there is nothing to be lost by re-climbing, and it will help you to get over it when and if the time comes.
By the time you have a good view from cover, the man is standing in the middle of the street, about ten yards from the gate. He calls out with an authoritative voice.
"Household guard of Merchant Throne! Stand dow--". Two arrows whistle through the darkness straight at the man. One falls far wide of the mark, but the other breaks on the cobbles at his feet. He nimbly springs upward to avoid it. The jump is much higher than you would have thought possible for a man if his size.
Orlando looks down at the broken arrow. "Fire again and I shall become angry. I am Orlando, Paladin of High Justice Rakeen. In the name of the Archon, I act. Stand. Down."
There is a pause for a moment. Then from somewhere back at the house, a whistle is blown. Two sharp blasts. To your surprise, the barbarians quit the walls. They run toward the house. The man on the street probably cannot see them, but they don't look as if they are retreating. They look like they are running into combat.
Orlando's posture indicates that he takes this as an invitation. He strides for the front gate.

OOC: *This is a typical Jackie Chan maneuver, if you are familiar with his movies.

The wall is low enough that no roll is needed. You may drop lightly to the ground.
As Riccoco and Faliol approach, the walls are mysteriously empty. No guards are near them, though you do catch a glimpse of them headed for the house.
Orlando has moved to the gate proper. He gives the bars an experimental rattle. He shakes his head. He backs up and takes a running start. Instead of vaulting the gate, his leg comes up at the last second and his heavy boot delivers a powerful kick to the point where the lock joins. There is an audible snapping sound and the gate opens.
"The fools didn't drop the brace bar that goes into the ground. Barbarians." His contempt is audible. He turns and speaks, "Ah, you've decided to come along. It appears our horde of barbarian warriors has evaporated."
He rubs his chin. "Odd, though. I wonder if they seek to defend the house?"

Orlando barely acknowledges any apologies or explanations. His attention is taken by the house.

"Faliol, Bandit -- wait. Something is amiss here. If they wished to submit to my investigations, why not open the gate? If they wished to kill me, they wouldn't do it in the street. What does Throne hope to accomplish?
"I think there may be an ambush inside the door. I can take them easily enough when I can see them, but I am suspicious. You have been watching, did you see anything odd?" He strokes his broad chin and gazes at the closed house.

For someone who wants to kick barbarian butt, he seems awfully calm about it. He also goes from "us" to "me" easily.

From inside a faint sound of yelling and war cries may be heard. Hearing this, he makes up his mind to advance. "Never mind, tell me if it's a trap after we've sprung it." His booted foot again raises to deliver the lock-breaking kick, this time to the front door.

He grabs the pipe-and-cloth contraption and puts it in place. His strong arms help one after the other over the wall, last of all Cas.

All alight in the darkness of the throne family crypt yard. There are sounds of shouting and confusion from the south end. So far, no one is looking your way. crouching as low as possible the team makes its through the stone markers and boxes and along the east wall behind the small pond. There is a brief panic as you go through the rushes. Some ducks are startled and flap their wings loudly, but no one seem to have noticed. There is now the heavy slap of bowstrings along the south wall, but no more shouts or screams.

Now the most dangerous part. The ground between the rushes and the roses is open, with no hope of cover. You decide to cross it with two seconds between each runner. The runner will need to be as low as possible. One after the other passes until Celeste is crossing. It is then that you notice the guard at the Carriage House. He has taken cover from the arrow fire at the NE corner. He is looking directly at the barbarian sailor. Before he can raise an alarm, a shadow rushes from the direction of the nearby pond and tackles the man. The two go down in a heap and to your utter surprise you see the new attacker is Handle! You suddenly realize that he is not with you. He must have split off somewhere in the rushes.

Handle's long knife flashes as he stabs at the man. He looks up long enough to plainly mouth, "run!"

Realizing that to engage in a fight out here would ruin any chance of gaining Vagrant, the party finishes crossing the space between Rushes and Roses and runs through the door to the pool room. The room is lit with oil lamps and seems eerily quiet.

He reports in hushed tones that there are people in the basement below, perhaps five or six. One is wearing a spirit cloak and stands somewhere on the near side of center. It could be Vagrant, but it is impossible to tell through the enhanced fabric. He also sees a bit of lumina, but cannot tell if it is Pakker, another adept, or just a piece of lumina.
The kitchen is cold and deserted. The cellar door lies across the room.

Cas, who had previously done her best to hold the rear realizes that at this rate the only one up front will be the healer. So she will politely move up to the front. No longer being a rear guard, she will see her job as the exclusive Nuyok bodyguard.

We're in the kitchen and Nuyok sees 5-6 people in the basement below us. Are they right below us (as in near the stairs?)

If so, let's pick up a barrel or all the pots and pans, or a dead body, or something large or lots of small things and throw them down the stairs. Then we can rush in hoping they are all tangled in the stuff.

If they are not near the stairs, I will whisper, "Lekchock, you seem very good at climbing, can you climb down the celing and see where everyone is? Then you could wave your hand like this (big motion over my head) and Nuyok could be watching and we will come down."

Handle, you saw a guard hiding by the carriage house and realized that he would have an excellent view of the party. Fortunately, he is concealed from the front wall. Summoning all your stealth, you make your way out of the rushes and to the shadows near the out building. Just as the man turns you spring and strike with poisoned blade.
The first stab goes wide and the man turns in surprise. Hastily you grapple and overbear him. He tries swinging his axe but cannot break your grip. Again you stab, this time leaving a long gash on his arm.
The party has seen you, but they are standing staring. You mouth a hasty command to get them inside and return to your fight. You can waste no more attention on them.
The man breaks free and readies his axe. You stab again and miss. His ax swings and connects with your thigh. Not a mortal wound, but it's bleeding more quickly than you'd like.
You realize the fight is visible from the far east end of the wall, though you cannot spare a glance to look for reactions.
The man has not called out yet.

I attempt to back away into the shadows or out of veiw of any others, hoping the barbarian will think to only pursue me and not call out to others, but as I do I pull out a throwing knife and hurl it at the axeman. I use my dagger to parry (block) should the barbarian go first.

If thrown to block and successful, I get init next shared -[hase if appropriate and use levels to damage hoping to take the axeman out with a good strike.

If I can't take him out or he begins to call out after this I will run like hell and lead him away formthe others, as well as any others that answer his call.

Unfortunately, you will need to advance to get him out of sight.
Your throwing knife splits the air and catches him clean in the gut. He clutches at it. He looks at you with hatred and fear. Suddenly you realize he is going to scream.
Springing forward, you try to grab at his throat, but not before he gets off a strangled cry. Your choice of how to silence him. He is hors de combat
Heart beating madly, you shrink into the corner-work of the carriage house. Did they hear? Do you dare to move yet? The space between the outbuilding and the house is open to sight by many on the walls.
As you sit there gaining your breath and assessing your wound (not serious), you realize that someone is shouting outside the walls. You fail to make it out at first, but two words become apparent. "Stand. Down." Sounds like a cop.
At that moment, you notice something else. From an upper window above the front entrance, a shadowy figure leans. He blows two short blasts upon a whistle. There is suddenly a noise from the walls. The barbarians are moving and hollering. More than that ou cannot yet tell.

I try to lead any coming towards the house away, moving along in shadows as best as I can and then running through a well sighted area to another hiding place,

I try to catch their attention form far enough away as to route them away from the others but not so close to me as to be caught.

I'll continue to do this as much as I can, throwing my other few daggers to wound and get the attention away from the house when it is posible without being immediately attacked.

If I get a number following me, four or so, I'll run for the wall and try and escape while luring them after me, Perhaps near enough to a gate that they may decide to leave the estate in pursuit rather than figure I am gone and turn back.

If it progresses this far and I do attempt escape I take one of the planned roots to where we are supposed to meet trying not to be followed.

Should none of this work or those outside dealing with my efforts are called to the main estate house and so ignore me I'll move back as best I can to attack them from behind as they go after the rest of the group.

Work me into the other groups sight whenever or however it works out. Maybe one near a window can catch a sight of me while moving through the lighted area drawing people away, etc...

Handle, as you move away from te carriage house, you become aware that all of the barbarians have left the walls and are running like made for the house. They have weapons drawn and looks of battle upon their faces. Obviously, they are after your friends inside.
As you attempt to fall in behind, you surprise a warrior in a small courtyard (shown on map). On an impulse, you hurl your knife at him. To your complete surprise (and his, it must be admitted), he goes down like a de-stringed marionette.)
Pausing only to pull your knife from his corpse, you are startled as he suddenly brings his axe around. He was either playing possum or recovered from your blow. His ax narrowly misses you. There is a quick silent battle during which the guard for some reason does not call out for aid. Eventually he goes down under your blade, though.
Running for the house, you arrive at the house to see the events in the thread "Opening the Door."
The fellow referred to as "Orlando" is a large, well-muscled warrior in fine armor and brandishing a beautiful bastard sword.

Nuyok takes a last hard look with his spirit sight.

Three facts immediately become apparent. The first is that the lumina-bearer has disappeared. This must have happened sometime between scans.

The second observation is that the people below have scattered a bit. Not having a map to mark upon, Nuyok can only tell Leckchock that some people below have cover.

The third fact is that there is definitely a sense of malice coming from below.

The cellar door is opened ever so slightly. No response. A dim light filters from below. The cellar is not dark. Cautiously, the forest man grabs the rafters that rough the stairwell. Hand over hand and foot over foot, he descends until he can see the interior of the cellar below.

There is only one figure visible, a city guardsman. His face is beaten and pulpy and he has a gag in his mouth. He is tied to a pillar some distance into the cellar. He has not noticed Leckchock apparently, though his attention is focused on the stairwell.

OOC: Yes, this time Vagrant has intentionally been included, even though he is not directly visible to Leckchock, or vice versa. Vagrant, you have no idea who Leckchock is and cannot perceive him in any case. You are free to act according to whatever plan you may have, though.

The ceiling of the cellar is composed of cross-barrel vaults, so you can climb the ceiling from pillar to pillar. You are out of HTH range in between pillars, but must descend to head height as you pass pillars. [Just in case you are not familiar with a cross-barrel vault, you can find a picture of one here.]

You make your way carefully across the vaulted cellar. The guard tied to the post (second from the top, third from the left) suddenly sees you. "Gu nag! Gu nag!!! Ug u gag!" he screams through his gag.

Suddenly, you see a barbarian in one of the bays, the first one on the North wall. He has an axe in his hand and has it in a throwing position. Reaction?

The bays in the cellar have been numbered. Each one is a cross-barrel vault. When I refer to a pillar by number, it is the pillar at the upper left corner of referenced vault. The guard for instance is tied to the east side of pillar number 20.

Nuyok's psychic danger sense goes off as the man behind pillar number 11 raises an ax. Now that the man is moving and brandishing it, the adept also senses something he missed previously. The ax is spiritually enhanced. It is also about to be launched at Leckchock. He cannot tell if Leckchock is aware of the attacker.
Nuyok springs forward and down, drawing his sword on the run. Cas is at his side, her long stiletto ready. Beka and Celeste follow, the barbarian woman leaping off the side of the stone staircase as they descend.
The stone-flagged cellar is dimly but thoroughly lit by oil lanterns hung at intervals. Many areas have boxes and barrels of goods and stores. There are numerous possibilities for weapons of convenience.
Tied to pillar number 20 is a city guardsman. His faced is bruised and purplish and he has a gag in his mouth. The women recognize him as Jornu, whom Melkut feared dead. He is shouting something, but it is unintelligible.
Leckchock hangs by his feet from the top of a cross barrel arch. They actually grip the ridge of stone firmly enough to allow him to use his hands.
Three hill tribe barbarians are immediately visible. The one aiming the ax at Leckchock sees the party descend the stairs and lets forth a bellowing war-cry, "Wheeeeeeey-Yi!!!"

Rushing down the stairs, Nuyok hisses toward the party "spirit weapons", and enters the chamber, moving toward the closest guard (the one about to attack Lekchock?).

Nuyok will half-move to the closest guard (seems within reach), and attack with his sword, switching to full Spirit Sense (13-), Detect Hostile Intent (11-), and Anticipate Movement (+1CSL), allocating the CSL to defense. At any point Nuyok is in HtH combat with the guards, and does not have to move, he will switch the Spirit Sense to Find Weakness (11-) and use that on the guard and attack in that phase.

The reason for Nuyok's full Spirit Sense is in case he spots an extra hidden person, especially one who may have possessed the lumina, in order to warn everyone of the hidden threat. Also, to the extent he can take a zero-phase action to glance toward the corner pit / well / shaft to the river below, Nuyok will look that way to try to spot a fleeing adept.

As you advance, Lechock nimbly descends the slope of the roof, moving so quickly he seems to be sliding along the ridge. The maneuver obiously catches the guard by surprise; the axe blow never falls. Leckchock's recovered axe takes the man in the shoulder. He screams and drops his ax, crumpling to the floor.

Beka moves towards barbarian#2 (at pillar 27), but advances slowly enough to make sure her back is always covered by a pillar. She stands at pillar 18.

Nuyok and Celeste change tracks in mid course, since the closest man (pillar 11) is no longer a threat. The next nearest barbarian will do. Nuyok takes a moment to look about the cellar with his adept perceptions.

In the distance, the female hill tribe barbarian moves towards pillar #30. She takes up a fighting stance, though she has no visible weapon.

Cas brandishes her long knife and remains abreast of the adept. She is on the alert for any threat. Her face is serious and dedicated, far more concentrated that you have seen her for days.

The barbarian at pillar 27 looks at the superior force bearing down on him and retreats abck to pillar#28, a cautious retreat.

Guard Jornu continues to shout unintelligible words. He looks extremely agitated.

There have been a number of unresolved half moves, since no one would want to move into HTH range and then be unable to attack. I have treated this as a cautious advance. After all the cellar is full of moving shadows now, and you quickly sense it would be foolhardy to rush in.

Also, I am waiting to hear from Celeste and Leckchock, and possibly Vagrant.

Leckchock nimbly runs over to the bound Jornu. The gag over his mouth is no makeshift thing; it is a well-made ball gag, designed to prevent intelligible speech. Since Leckchock has only an ax as a tool, it will take him a full phase (i.e. until his next action) to remove it. Any quicker would bring undue injury upon the man, whose face is swollen and cut already.

Beka runs forward; the axman (28) is within her reach. She lunges with her broadsword and scores a nasty wound to the man's neck. Though he is bleeding freely, he responds with a swing of his ax, narrowly missing her sword hand.

Celeste runs to join Beka, taking advantage of the guards's distraction. Her sword is ready and her face is written with death.

Nuyok moves slowly with Cas alongside (I am delaying Nuyok's actions for Cas' DEX unless it becomes a critical action Since Nuyok's speed is higher, I am giving him a free perception. The bay indicated earlier has Throne and two axemen in it. Throne is about to do something that isn't quite an attack, but definitely has a homicidal intention)

The female in the middle distance appears to be in a full combat pose, presumably upon the hidden figure Nuyok reported.

The Axman (28) appears more ready than they would have guessed, and tries a round house swing, designed to disembowel both women. The spirit ax whistles through the air and is nimbly avoided by the pair. He looks annoyed.

Nuyok signals to Cas with a "follow" signal and advances. The vixen remains at his side. He readies his sword and swings around the pillar, apparently at an unseen target. There is a scream from around the bay's partition and a wounded axman emerges. He is followed by Throne and the other Axman. Throne is smiling and holding a whistle to his mouth. His other hand brandishes a sword. He blows the whistle.

Meanwhile, Lekchock has removed the gag from Jornu without further injuring the man's tortured face. Jornu spits out the ball gag, and in a ragged voice screams, "TRAP!!! It's a trap! Go back! The shaft is loaded with spirit axmen!" Nuyok's head has already whipped around, prompted by an adept's danger sense.

At that moment, in response to Throne's whistle, a savage war whoop rings from the far corner as reinforcements boil up. Hill tribe barbarians pound up the wooden stairs of the shaft, their faces colored with frightening masks of paint. They all carry axes and they all look ready to kill.

OK, because Leckchock removed Jornu's gag, you are all aware of the nature of the threat coming up out of the far (and darker) corner of the cellar. There is no surprise condition.

Throne shouts, "Shoot, Kramer! Shoot for your life! Shoot or die, and your friends with you!" He is yelling at the hidden figure guarded by the unarmed female barbarian.

Vagrant, Cassie has taken a martial pose near you. From your experience, you realize she stands ready to snap your neck should you try anything like aiming at Throne (or her for that matter).

As if things couldn't get worse, there is an answering whoop from the kitchen area above. More barbarians?

Cas wants nothing more this moment than to kill the wounded Barbarian in front of her. Okay... so she also wants to kill Throne but the barbarian is the focus on her mind. The reason is simple. Cas can only see one way this barbarian could have been injured, and that was if the barbarian was hurt fighting Rath.

"I'm going to finish what Rath started," Cas will shout. And as if it would make any difference to moral she will give a fox scream.

Assuming Throne's trying to get Vagrant to activate his replica ancient weapon for him, Nuyok will shout out "Vagrant, do what you must," and press forward hoping that his enhanced speed and find weakness and Cas might enable him to get through the barbarian guards and get to Throne himself, having seen him felled before by Rath.

Nuyok will continue to use Find Weakness when able, and attack the guards with the CSL on DCV, attempting to get to Throne, and Find Weakness on him to deal a grievous enough hit such that Nuyok could take an action to "cover" Throne and use that as leverage to stop the fighting.

"Ah Demon-Kings take it." He strides in. There is an expensively appointed foyer on the other side of the threshold, with plants and reflecting pools. You have little time to notice this, because your attention is drawn by two things. First, the unmistakeable sounds of war cries and combat from ahead, and the arrival of Handle from behind. He is out of breath and appears wounded.

Faliol rushes over to Handle, to lend assistance to his human friend.

"Orlando, this is Handle, one of the caravaners attempting to get our friend Vagrant released. Handle, this is Orlando, a Paladin here to arrest Throne and his thugs."

Noticing that Handle is wounded, he uses his limited medical knowledge to access Handle's health.

Paramedics 12-
3d6: 9 Fri November 7, 2003 @5:58 AM (CST)

Warning! Conditional statements follow!
If the roll indicates that Handle is in immediate danger, Faliol will bind his wounds, while waving Ricco and Orlando forwards. "I will be right behind you in just a moment. He needs immediate attention."

If, however, the roll indicates no immediate danger, Faliol does the following:

"I will patch you up later. Your wounds are not threatening, though I imagine, quite painful."

Sticking to the right of the Paladin, Faliol keeps one eye on the young human to make sure he doesn't pass out or slump over from his injuries.

.oO(He needs treatment, but others are fighting and dying right now...)

"It be good to know you still be livin' at the least!" Concern and inquisitiveness seem to war on the plucky 'coon's furry features. His eyes dart about the combat site. Realizing Faliol has the matter well in hand, Ricco urges on Orlando. "It be soundin' like the battle be waged, Paladin. We best be at it."

He doesn't move in front of the warrior but, he does seem to urge the man forward, from behind.

Given that the situation is critical, your roll reveals nothing more than that he is standing and moving and not spurting blood. He'll fall down if it's too serious.
You just don't have the time or a safe place to do more.

"Handle, without more time, I simply cannot tell how badly you are hurt. We best join Ricco and Orlando. Try to stay out of the worst of the fighting, if they give you the choice."

Faliol moves off after Ricco/Orlando. He keeps glancing back to make sure Handle is doing ok.

"Huh, huh, I," I pu7ll the hand away from my aching and slightly bleeding ribs, "I think I'll live. I'm just glad I didn't have to fight this one here," indicating Orlando. "I sure am glad to find out he is on our side."

I look around taking in the scene.

" Where is everyone? I took out two before getting here. Are we still behind the fight or is it coming upon us? If we are behind we should trya nd get in an attack ontheir flank and draw soem of the heat off our friends. maybe open up a means of escape for them."
